Information Gathering Strategies of Experts and Novices: Evidence using Eye-Tracking Chess Experiments
Given the same information, why do chess experts make better decisions than novices? Do they have access to better information or do they process the information more effectively? The goal of this research is to examine why the information gathering and interpretation strategies of chess experts and novices differ. Do novices and experts gather the same information and process them differently? Or, do they gather different pieces of information and also potentially process them and integrate them differently? The answers to these questions may be helpful outside of the domain of chess.
